Lectures: 1. Oncology, incidence and epidemiology of cancer diseases, cancer etiology, prevention, screening malignant neoplasms 2. Biological behavior of malignant tumors, classification, diagnosis and treatment principles 3. Radiology - Imaging specifics of surgical treatment 4. The treatment medication 5. Adiation treatment, the role of nurses, psychological approach to oncological patients 6. Palliative and hospice care, the main objectives, the role of nurses, pain management, nutrition 7. Organisation of palliative and hospice care in the Czech republic, the dying, the psychology in palliative care and spiritual aspects Exercises: 1. Palliative and hospice care, role of nurse, development in the Czech Republic, legislation 2. Nursing that focuses on the most common symptoms in palliative care 3. Nursing process at patient with pain - tumor pain

Learning outcomes
|
The subject introduces the principles of primary and secondary prevention, questions of late diagnostics of characinoid tumours, classification, examination methods in oncology, an outline of complex therapy of characinoid tumours, dispensary care and screening programmes. The aim is to use chosen theories and nursing models in oncological nursing.The subject is closely connected with the problems of ontologically ill patients. It introduces new services and types of institutions which belong to the area of tertiary care and which provide individual nursing care to the incurably ill and the dying.
Students obtain knowledge in given course in accordance with requirements and course programme.
