Course content
Lectures: 1) Introduction to biophysics, interaction of biological system with external environment; biomechanics 2) Physical description of biological systems; tissue and organ biophysics (locomotor, cardiovascular, respiratory, secretory and digestive systems); electrical and magnetic properties of tissues 3) Biological signals, biophysics of electrical manifestations and effects; optics and biophysics of vision, acoustics, ultrasound, X-ray radiation 4) Biophysical basics of non-invasive treatment methods 1: treatment methods using mechanical energy, treatment methods using electric current, principles of treatment with magnetic fields, treatment methods using heat, treatment methods using light, physical principles of treatment with ionizing radiation 5) Biophysical principles of invasive treatment methods 2: physical principles of modern surgical instruments, physical principles of main dental instruments, devices supporting or replacing organ function Exercises: 1) Basic laws of physics applied in a living organism; connection between biophysics and nursing care and its influence results of diagnostic and therapeutic methods 2) Biophysics of tissues and organs (locomotor, cardiovascular, respiratory, secretory and digestive systems); electric and magnetic properties of tissues 3) Biophysics of electrical manifestations and effects (electric current, effects of electric current on organism, electromagnetic field), diagnostic and therapeutic methods 4) Biophysical principles and devices for non-invasive treatment methods 1 5) Biophysical principles and devices for non-invasive treatment methods 2

Learning outcomes
The course is conceived as a theoretical-practical unit. It acquaints students with the basics of biophysics and its use in the field of medical diagnostic and therapeutic methods in the context of nursing care. Objective of the course - learning outcomes and competences: Students will obtain basic information about physical differences of individual methods and their biological effects. They will also get acquainted with the methods and instruments used for these examinations.
Students obtain knowledge in given course in accordance with requirements and course programme.
Prerequisites
Preconditions are frased in the annotation of the course and in the curriculum of the studying programme.
