Course content
Lectures (topics): From Economic Thought to Economic Science 1. Mercantilism 2. Natural Law and Physiocrats 3. Classical Political Economy The Origin and Development of Modern Microeconomics 4. The Marginalist Revolution 5. Swiss School 6. Cambridge School 7. Austrian School The Origin and Development of Modern Macroeconomics 8. Classical Economics 9. Keynesian Macroeconomics 10. Neo Keynesian Macroeconomics, Post Keynesian Macroeconomics 11. Neoclassical Macroeconomics (Friedman's model, Chicago School) 12. New Classical Macroeconomics (The Rational Expectation Hypothesis and Understanding of Business Cycles, Real Business Cycles Theory) 13. New Keynesian Macroeconomics Seminars: The seminars deepen the lecture topics. Students learn to interpret the methodological thinking of individual schools of economics in specific historical economic and political situations. The analysis of authentic texts of the authors is partly included to illustrate the economic and political background of the emergence of the schools of economics.

Learning outcomes
The course focuses on interpreting the main theoretical concepts from the origin of economics as an independent discipline to the rise of the main economic theories of the 20th century. Much attention is paid to the development of economic theories of the 20th century, which are among the more complicated parts of macroeconomics and, for time reasons, cannot be given sufficient space in the required courses.
Students obtain knowledge in given course in accordance with requirements and course programme.
