Course content
Lectures ( topics): 1. Market mechanism and its operation. 2. Elasticity of demand. 3. Elasticity of supply. 4. Market equilibrium. 5. Theory of Demand and Benefit. 6. Theory of Production and Marginal Product. 7. Costs analysis. 8. Perfect competition. 9. Imperfect competition. Monopoly. 10. Oligopoly. 11. Monopolistic competition. 12. Pension plan. 13. Labour market and trade unions. 14. Capital market and land market. Seminars ( topics): 1. Demand analysis. Supply analysis, market equilibrium, examples of market imbalance. 2. Calculation of price elasticity of demand, pension elasticity of demand, cross elasticity of demand. 3. Calculation of price elasticity of supply, consequences of the relationship between elasticity of supply and demand. 4. Centripetal Theory, Neutral Theory, regulation of market functioning. 5. Cardinal Utility Theory, consumer equilibrium, consumer surplus, the ordinal version of the Theory of Utility, the Ordinal Utility, derivation of individual demand based on theories of Utility. 6. Short-term production function, long-term production function, yields from scales. 7. Total costs in short term, costs in long term, technological optimum. 8. A company in the conditions of perfect competition in the short term period, a company in the conditions of perfect competition in the long term period. 9. Imperfect competition and its forms, the equilibrium of the company in imperfect competition, monopoly, the inefficiency of monopoly. 10. Contract oligopoly, oligopoly with a dominant company, the efficiency of oligopoly. 11. A company in a monopolistic competition in the short and long term, the efficiency of monopolistic competition. 12. Theory of Distribution based on Marginal Productivity Theory, measurement of inequalities in pensions, trends of inequalities. 13. Labour market, labour demand, monopsony. 14. Capital breakdown, capital market offer, capital market demand, equilibrium capital market, investment, land market, economic rent and transfer earnings.

Learning outcomes
The subject of Microeconomics I is a bachelor course aiming at the microeconomic analysis of economic problems; enabling the formation of a coherent picture leading to the rational behaviour of a microeconomic subject in a market environment and the ability to make conclusions resulting from the selected micro-economic theories.
Gained knowledge can be used in follow-up study, e.g. in NAP and/or MIE2 courses.
Prerequisites
General knowledge to the extent of secondary school is assumed.

Assessment methods and criteria
Combined examination

Zápočet - 2 minitesty po 5 bodech plus závěrečný test za 10 bodů, - pro získání zápočtu je nutno získat součet minimálně 14 bodů, - možnost opravy: napsání 1 opravného testu, ze kterého je nutné získat 7 bodů z 10, - 85% účast na cvičeních. Ústní zkouška - student po přípravě odpovídá na dvě vylosované otázky v rozsahu vyučované látky.
