The public sector, public policy - theories, concepts, definitions, concepts 1) Public Sector x private sector 2) The economic role of government, market failure 3) Public Policy (process and production) 4) Evaluation of public programs The organization of the state and public administration, applications for Czech Republic 5) Political institutions: the state, its organization and role 6) The functions and activities of public administration 7) Financing Public Administration 8) Collaboration and partnerships between the public and private sector Failure of the public sector, the role of the civil sector in public policy 9) Public sector and bureaucracy - model PA. 10) The theory of regulation - public and private interest regulation in the interest of regulating and regulated, RIA. 11) The integrity of public administration and good governance 12) The civil sector in public policy, NGOs, interest groups, lobbying Exercises: Practical examples related to přednášeným topics, presentation of selected topics.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to introduce to the students the basic forms and essential attributes of the public sector. The course is divided into three modules: The first one deals with the theoretical approaches to organization of the public sector, the second module is focused on the public administration of the Czech Republic, and the third group of lectures addresses selected types of failures of the public sector.
Students obtain knowledge in given course in accordance with requirements and course programme.

Prerequisites
|
The prerequisite is knowledge of economic theory in extent of courses Macroeconomics I and Microeconomics I and Economic Policy I.
