Course content
Lectures (topics): 1. Introduction to Business Intelligence. Information, data, knowledge. Information and communication. 2. Goals and organizational information needs. Business Intelligence and IS / ICT. External and internal information sources. 3. Business Intelligence as part of IS / ICT. Business Intelligence components, architecture. 4. Data warehouses, OLAP analysis and data mining. Data warehouses: Data sources. Design of data warehouses. 5. Business Intelligence as an Intelligence Process. Business Intelligence Specifics. Human Resources. 6. Competitive and Defense News. Influential reporting. Morale, Ethics. 7. Unstructured Data and Business Intelligence. Data warehouse design, architecture. Business Intelligence in an organization. 8. Organizations dealing with Business Intelligence. New Trends and Expected Developments. Seminars (topics): The seminars are followed by consultations and subsequent presentations of the students' independent work in connection with lecture topics.

Learning outcomes
In order to gain the competitive advantage and to remain in the market, it is important to acquire information. The course deals with external and internal information sources of the organization, methods of analysis and evaluation of information, as well as with the use of technologies in their processing.
