Lectures: 1. E-business strategies and models 2. Evaluation of Ecommerce Benefits, KPI (Key Performance Indicators) 3. Legislative aspects of e-commerce (personal data management, purchasing process, VAT, etc.) 4. Payment technology, security issues 5. SEO (Search Engine Optimization) - white-hat vs. black-hat SEO, Google webmaster tools, Company catalogs, RSS catalogs 6. E-commerce support - SCM, CRM, affiliate programs 7. User Experience Design - Web design methods, testing user-friendliness Seminars: During the seminars the students will have the possibility to work with selected editorial systems, which will be used for the preparation of the frontend and the backend of the e-shop. 1. Specification and specification of the requirements for the preparation of a semestral project 2. Introduction of the most widely used open source content management systems 3. Basics of the selected editorial system - installation, architecture, setting 4. Using and editing the content management system templates to design the look of a web application 5. Creating and editing posts, pages, and media 6. Content management system plug-ins for e-shop creation, e-shop layout 7. Product catalog management, linking the e-shop with the product database 8. E-shop management and admin interface options 9. Implementation of payment methods 10. Detailed analysis of the content management system architecture at the source code level 11. Implementation of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) 12. Secure e-shop 13. Preparation of the semester project 14. Defense and oponent of the semester project

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to provide students with a basic overview of e-business issues. Students will get acquainted with basic models of e-business, necessary strategies, security issues, Internet marketing, and metrics to customize individual strategies according to customer preferences. The course also discusses current trends in the field, such as tools for creating and using User Genereted Content or the principles of User Experience Design.

Credit requirements: 80% attendance at seminars, submission of a semestral project, practical credit test. Exam: Written test covering topics presented during the lectures.
