Course content
Lectures: 1. History of the international tourism, its role and importance in the world economy. 2. Factors in the development of international tourism, new trends. 3. Statistical monitoring in the international tourism, satellite account, international statistics. 4. Regional distribution of the international tourism, main world markets. 5. International tourism organisations. 6. Private enterprises in the international tourism. 7. Cultural heritage in the international tourism, international preservation of the cultural heritage, UNESCO World Heritages Sites, examples from world tourism destinations incl. the Czech Republic. 8. Transport and its role in the international tourism, history, modern trends, predictions. 9. Sustainability in the international tourism, positive and negative tourism effects. 10. Competitiveness and its measuring in the international tourism. 11. The role of the developing countries in the international tourism, their particularities, integration. 12. Tourism in Europe, institutional regulation, legislation. 13. The role of the Czech Republic in the international tourism, perception of the destination "Czech republic" abroad. The seminars follow the lectures and solve case studies on selected topics. The seminars also include the geography of tourism.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monological explanation (lecture, presentation,briefing), Dialogue metods(conversation,discussion,brainstorming), Written assignment presentation and defence
  • Semestral paper - 35 hours per semester
  • Home preparation for classes - 8 hours per semester
  • Class attendance - 32 hours per semester
  • Presentation preparation (report) - 10 hours per semester
  • Preparation for exam - 35 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
The aim of the subject is to familiarize the students with the issues of international tourism with respect to its development and multiplicative effects in the context of international economic relations. Students acquire knowledge about the regional distribution of international tourism, about the institutional regulation, and about selected issues in the international context (cultural heritage, sustainability, competitiveness, transportation).
Students acquire knowledge about international tourism in accordance with the aim and content of the subject.
Prerequisites
Passing the subject "Tourism".

Assessment methods and criteria
Written exam, Presentation of group work

Credit: semester work (written form and oral presentation), active participation during seminars. Exam: written test, min. 65 % points
