Course content
Topics of lectures: 1. Basic concepts, principles and obligations in the protection and improvement of the state of the environment and its components. Global climate change. Causes of climate change, current manifestations and consequences of climate change and possibilities of solutions in the future. 2. Waste management. Sustainable use of resources, waste prevention and methods of waste management. 3. Sustainable development management. Sustainable development objectives, measurement, reporting and standards of sustainability. 4. Environmental protection policy and its principles. State environmental policy of the Czech Republic. 5. Normative, economic and voluntary instruments of environmental policy to protect and care for the environment. 6. Sustainable business, opportunities and threats in connection with sustainable development. Trends in corporate sustainability. Seminar topics: - Human conflict with the environment. Global environmental problems. - Eco-friendly life. Modern trends, eco-labelling, eco-friendly products. - Circular economy. Packaging, waste management. - Environmental impact of activities and products during the life cycle. Carbon footprint, LCA method. - Current environmental problems. - Presentation of semester projects.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monological explanation (lecture, presentation,briefing), Dialogue metods(conversation,discussion,brainstorming), Self-study (text study, reading, problematic tasks, practical tasks, experiments, research, written assignments)

Learning outcomes
The subject introduces students to the principal theoretical findings in environmental policy and their practical applications.
Students obtain knowledge in given course in accordance with requirements and course programme, i.e. students will obtain then basic principles of the sustainable development in connection with the development of the enterprise for the future generations.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written exam, Oral presentation of self-study

The condition for graduation is processing and defense of semestral project on a given topic and passing a written exam. Part of the course are excursions and lectures of practitioners (attendance is obligatory, unless stated otherwise).
