Course content
Lectures (topics): 1. Characteristics and definition of a family business. 2. Legal aspects of a family business. 3. Strategies and management of a family business. 4. Internal processes in a family business (financial, personnel, information, communication, production, and controlling) 5. Planning and the effects of generational change in a family business. Seminars (topics): Thematically employ knowledge obtained in the lectures and self-studies in order to succeed in a practical semestral project. Seminars are discussion workshops on: 1. Property and legal issues of generation exchange in a family business (based on an example of a specific company). 2. Communication, motivation and argumentation skills (examples of troubleshooting in a family business). 3. Business visions, missions, goals, strategy, brand building, including intellectual property rights protection. 4. Personnel optimisation of a family business, internal processes (based on an example of a specific company). 5. Internal processes for family business financial management (based on an example of a specific company). 6. Planning and generation exchange process in a family business (based on an example of a specific company).

Learning activities and teaching methods
Dialogue metods(conversation,discussion,brainstorming), Self-study (text study, reading, problematic tasks, practical tasks, experiments, research, written assignments), Active metods (simulation, situational contingency methods, drama,acting, namagerial acting ), Lecture, Seminár, E-learning, Students' portfolio, Task-based study method
  • Semestral paper - 28 hours per semester
  • Preparation for exam - 30 hours per semester
  • Class attendance - 42 hours per semester
  • Home preparation for classes - 15 hours per semester
  • Presentation preparation (report) - 5 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to specify the competence and training of family business. The acquired skills will include: knowledge of the requirements of the relevant legal standards, skills in communication techniques in conflict resolution, the ability to set a goal, a vision, a mission of a family business, to propose a system of internal processes across a family business, to understand the sequence of procedures for the exchange of management in relation to generational development of a family businesses.
Students obtain knowledge in given course in accordance with requirements and course programme.
Prerequisites
Prerequisities: Business Administration, Introduction to Management, Accounting I and II, Marketing, Introduction to Law I and II

Assessment methods and criteria
Written exam, Presentation of group work

Course credit requirements: drawing up a semestral project and its defence; examination: written. Attendance at lectures and seminars is compulsory.
