Course content
Lectures (topics): 1. The concept of the social economy in the Czech Republic and the Europe. 2. Various definitions of the social economy. 3. Social entrepreneurship and social business in the Czech Republic and the Europe. 4. Social enterprise principles and standards. 5. Forms of social enterprises in the Czech Republic. 6. Non-governmental non-profit organisations. 7. Community sector. 8. The role of municipal authorities in the development of social entrepreneurship. 9. The future of social entrepreneurship in the Czech Republic. 10. Financing social enterprise activities and the impact of taxation on a social enterprise. 11. Social enterprise management. 12. Employees of a social enterprise.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monological explanation (lecture, presentation,briefing), Lecture, Seminár, E-learning, Students' portfolio
  • Preparation for exam - 22 hours per semester
  • Presentation preparation (report) - 10 hours per semester
  • Semestral paper - 20 hours per semester
  • Home preparation for classes - 10 hours per semester
  • Class attendance - 28 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
The aim of this subject is to acquaint students with the principles and foundations which the social economy is built on, not only in the Czech Republic but within the European Union in general. The subject should help undergraduates orientate themselves in particular forms of the social enterprises and diversities related to the foundation of enterprises on the basis of social economy, further, students should gain an overview of financing a social enterprise and the use of profit generated by such a social enterprise.
Students obtain knowledge in given course in accordance with requirements and course programme. Knowledge from the scope of social business, participation in NGO and business entities focused on social business.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written exam, Oral presentation of self-study

- 50% participation in meetings in the combined form of study and 85% participation in seminars in the full-time form of study. - Semestral project of at least 10 pages. The format has to correspond to the Dean ´s Measure of the final work. - The final written test has to be passed with at least 66 %.
