Course content
Lectures: 1st Specifics of business in the financial sector, the role of the state, business risk financial market institutions. 2nd EU directives in the field of finance and banking. 3rd EU harmonization, business conditions in the financial sector. 4th The single European passport, his essence, importance and availability. 5th Laws governing the existence and activities of banks and capital market entities in the country. 6th Laws governing the existence and activities of entities in the Czech insurance market. 7th Financial planning, financial sector institutions. 8th The investment activities of financial institutions. 9th Basel II and Solvency II as a tool for comprehensive risk management. 10th Organization of financial institutions. 11th Analysis of the activities of financial institutions, the indicators used. 12th Information obligations of financial market, the structure of the annual report. 13th Current developments in the financial and insurance markets. Exercise: Exercise builds on the content of his lecture.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monological explanation (lecture, presentation,briefing), Self-study (text study, reading, problematic tasks, practical tasks, experiments, research, written assignments), Written assignment presentation and defence, Project teaching

Learning outcomes
The course is based on the interpretation of regulatory and legislative measures in force in the EU and the Czech Republic to acquaint students with the specifics of business risks and financial market institutions, as well as the principles of their operations and methods that ensure their financial health. The course includes an update of developments in the financial markets.
Students obtain knowledge in given course in accordance with requirements and course programme.
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of the subject of Principles of Insurance Industry.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral exam, Presentation of acquired knowledge via paper

Credit: 80% attendance at seminars; semestral paper and its presentation. Exam: oral.
