Course content
Lectures: 1. The overall structure of life insurance in the Czech Republic. 2. General characteristics of life insurance, life risks and ways to avoid them; role of life insurance in the financial market and the role of life insurance vs. State social policy. 3. Trends of Czech and world life insurance market, traditional and new types of life insurance products. 4. Accident insurance. 5. Sickness insurance. 6. Term life insurance. 7. Endowment Insurance (the main features of the mixed insurance types of endowment). 8. Universal life insurance. 9. Unit-linked life insurance. 10. Pension insurance. 11. Pension insurance with a state contribution (importance of pension in the pension system of the Czech Republic; differences from the national pension insurance legislation and other documents regulating pension, pension fund, function, types of benefits pension scheme; 12. Pillar pension security, reform of the pension system in the Czech Republic in connection with the use of private insurance products (vs. social insurance). 13. Insurance to life insurance. Indexation of life insurance (developmental changes in the dynamism of life insurance). Shares in surpluses premiums. Surrenders and loans. Current problems of the Czech insurance market people. Exercise: 1. Assignments for work, basic information, instructions for processing semester work. 2. The latest types of products - analysis. 3. Accident insurance - practical information, a description of basic products on the market. 4. - 8. Consultation on the semester work, discussion on current issues related to the lecture. 9. Summary of main characteristics and differences between the different types of life insurance. 10. - 13. Presentation of semester assignments and discussions related to the selected topic.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to familiarize students not only the basic characteristics of individual types of life insurance, but also to specify the role of the private life insurance currently (importance of life insurance in the financial, insurance and pensions market) and outline the expected development.
Students obtain knowledge in given course in accordance with requirements and course programme.
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of the subject of Principles of Insurance Industry.

Written exam, Student's performance analysis, Oral presentation of self-study, Presentation of student research activity

Credit: semestral paper and its presentation. Exam: oral.
