Course content
1. Social risks and their coverage in a market economy. 2. Solidarity. Differences in the concept of continental Europe and the Anglo-American world. 3. Globalization. Perhaps the concept and definition. Implications for social policy. 4. The consequences of globalization in contemporary society. Different points of view. Reaction of the resulting economic problems. 5. Conservative, liberal and social views of the world. 6. Welfare state - definition, types, examples. 7. The problems of the welfare state and its erosion. Causes, consequences. Low productivity of the service sector, flexibilization of work and family. 8. Pension system. 9. Health care system. 10. Educational Policy. 11. Social policy in the EU. Current trends in social policy. 12. Situation in the Czech Republic. Possible future developments. 13. Alternative routes and other proposals.

Learning outcomes
Students will receive information regarding the development of social policy, its objectives, principles, functions and tools. The aim of the course is to acquaint students with socio-economic impacts of globalization in the contemporary world and social policy responses to these new trends. In the context of the social sciences are interconnected theoretical approaches with practical policy implemented not only in this country but also in the European scale. They are also discussed trends in the development and potential reform proposals in the areas surveyed.
Students obtain knowledge in this object in conformity with aim and content.
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of insurance issues.

Oral exam, Written exam

Exam: Written test at the end of the semester and an oral exam.
