Course content
Owerview of lectures and exercises: 1. Structure in architecture 2. Requirements for the load-bearing structures 3. Theory of designing of the load-bearing structures of the buildings 4. Materials for the load-bearing structures 5. Elements of the load-bearing structures 6. Static and kinetic friction, friction in the bottom of footings 7. Stress in the cross section - axial force, bending and shear 8. Eccentric pressure and kern of the cross section 9. Linearly and uniformly distributed pressure in the eccentrilally loaded cross section 10. Exercises I 11. Basics of plastic analysis of the cross-sections and structures 12. Torsion of the cross sections and members 13. Exercises II 14. Revision of study and consultations

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to expand and supplement the teaching of the basic mandatory courses Statics of Building Structures 1 and Statics of Building Structures 2 with additional contexts and to familiarize students with the applications of theory in the preliminary design of various types of load-bearing structures of buildings.
1. Student is able to interdisciplinary connect architectural design and static reasoning in the conceptual design phase. 2. Student is able to apply basic technical knowledge in the design of structurally appropriate solutions. 3. Student is prepared to consult and communicate with specialists in the field of structural engineering. 4. Student is able to use knowledge from computational engineering as a tool for qualified decision-making in the design of load-bearing systems of buildings.

Successful completion of the courses STA1 and STA2

Test
