Learning activities and teaching methods
Monological explanation (lecture, presentation, briefing), Dialogue metods(conversation,discussion,brainstorming), Self-study (text study, reading, problematic tasks, practical tasks, experiments, research, written assignments), Lecture, Practicum
  • Class attendance - 42 hours per semester
  • Preparation for credit - 42 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to familiarize students with the basics of structural mechanics and statics of building structures in the scope of statically determinate plane building structures. In the winter semester, operations with forces in the plane and the course of static quantities in solid and truss beams will be discussed.
1. Student is able to independently apply the principles of statics in solving architectural structures. 2. Student applies a systematic and analytical approach in assessing the mechanical properties of building elements. 3. Student is able to critically evaluate the results of calculations and estimate the possible consequences of the static properties of the structure. 4. Student communicates technical conclusions clearly and can present them in a professional context.
