Course content
1. Introduction to law - legal language, civil code, brief historical overview of the development of construction law and professional practice law, constitutional prerequisites and conditions for professional practice and activities with a special legal regime (especially related to construction). 2. Construction Act and Administrative Procedure Code. 3. Building Act and implementing regulations (covering the areas of spatial planning and general requirements for land use, building regulations, and permitting processes). 4. Public administration system in relation to professional practice (state administration, local government, professional self-government). 5. Professional chambers and their role. 6. Building Act and implementing regulations - building documentation, general technical requirements for buildings, and regulations on the use of buildings by persons with limited mobility and orientation. 7. Selected related laws. Act on State Monument Care, Act on Nature and Landscape Protection, and certain other regulations related to environmental protection (including the role of EIA processes). 8. Selected related laws. Public Health Act, laws on transport infrastructure (road transport, railways, civil aviation, and inland water transport), laws on technical infrastructure (water management, energy, electronic communications, waste). 9. Selected related laws. Laws on information systems, Copyright Act I, theory. 10. Selected related laws. Copyright Law II, selected applications and practical examples. 11. The special status of Prague, PSP. 12. Contractual relationships and contracts with a focus on the practice of architects and urban planners. 13. Drafting a selected type of contract I. 14. Drafting a selected type of contract II.

Learning outcomes
The course on law related to the practice of architecture and urban planning includes a detailed explanation of public law. After a basic introduction to the Civil Code and legal terminology, the course focuses primarily on construction law, i.e., the Building Act and implementing regulations, and also provides an overview of a wide range of related legal regulations in other areas of public law, such as healthcare, the protection of natural and landscape resources, the preservation of cultural heritage, the development of technical infrastructure, fire protection, occupational safety and the safety of technical equipment, technical standardization, administrative procedure, and misdemeanor and criminal law as they relate to the profession. Significant attention is devoted in the course to the field of copyright law and the role of professional chambers (ČKA, ČKAIT). Another component of the course is professional performance standards and standards for professional documentation in the core fields of practice for architects and urban planners, which include urban planning, building design, interior design, and garden and landscape design. The practical component of the course involves an introduction to the types of contractual relationships that architects and urban planners enter into, as well as the drafting of a selected contract proposal. Advanced knowledge in the fields of urban planning, architecture, and other disciplines corresponding to the master´s degree level is expected. Course Objectives: ? To familiarize students with the fundamentals of law in a format suitable for non-lawyers who are also aspiring professionals in the fields of architecture, urban planning, and landscape architecture. ? To enhance awareness of the role of professional associations, the authorization process, and the potential roles of architects and urban planners in the creation the environment. ? Develop critical thinking skills in the areas of construction and copyright law. ? Introduce students to tools for addressing professional challenges in the legal field.
Students: 1. Critically evaluate the legal framework of construction law and its application in professional practice. 2. Communicate effectively with experts and institutions in the fields of law, construction, and public administration. 3. Independently address legal and administrative issues related to the practice of architecture and urban planning. 4. Take responsibility for the legal aspects of their work and respect the ethical principles of the profession. 5. Integrates legal knowledge into interdisciplinary projects and teamwork.Hands-on in designing and executing of architectonic projects
