Theory, processes - the core of the subject is getting of basic theoretical knowledge from the field of thermo-chemistry and thermo-mechanics in terms of the working process of internal combustion engines, as well as experience with the application of computation and the experimental verification of their operational parameters, emission properties and characteristics of vehicle engines. The subject involves following topics: 1. Overview of internal combustion engines (ICE) 2. Main parameters of ICE 3. Fuels for ICE 4. Fuel mixture for ICE 5. Ideal cycles of ICE 6. Real cycles of ICE 7. Gas exchange process in ICE 8. Combustion process in ICE 9. Exhaust pollution from ICE 10. ICE modelling 11. Boosting of ICE 12. Engine friction 13. Wankel's and Stirling's engine, turbines
