Course content
Lecture topics: 1. Passive electronic elements (R, L, C - design, marking, parameters). 2. Diodes (types, parameters, V-A characteristics), rectifiers, thyristors. 3. Bipolar and unipolar transistors (associated characteristics, spare circuits, h/y parameters, dynamic properties). 4. Amplifiers (basic division, parameters, working point stabilization, classes), differential stage, push-pull, Darlington connection. 5. Operational amplifiers (ideal and real OA, parameters). 6. Basic operating networks with operational amplifiers (parameters, application). 7. Regulators and converters (division, principles, parameters). 8. Digital electronics (numerical systems, logical operators, basic gates, digital circuit technologies). 9. Combination logic circuits (description, parameters, design of combination circuits). 10. Sequential logic circuits (description, parameters, flip-flops, design of sequence circuits). 11. State machine (Mealy and Moore, internal states, design of state machines). 12. Programmable logic circuits (PLD and FPGA circuits - principles, architectures). 13. A/D and D/A converters (principles, parameters). Exercise content: The exercises will consist of the following parts: - solution of sample examples (calculations of component and circuit parameters, setting of working points, solving waveforms of signals, etc.); - measurement of basic characteristics and parameters of components and circuits; - design of simple analog and digital circuits; - orientation in datasheets of components.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monological explanation (lecture, presentation, briefing), Laboratory work
  • Class attendance - 56 hours per semester
  • Home preparation for classes - 10 hours per semester
  • Preparation for laboratory testing; outcome analysis - 15 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the basics of analog and digital electronics. The explanation is focused on basic principles and functions of selected electronic components and functional blocks. The exercises are mainly laboratory, they support the lectured topics by connecting selected elements and circuits with measurement of characteristics and parameters.
Students will acquire the basic concepts and practice skills of the electronic componets and basic analog and digital functional blocks.
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge on the level of subject Electrical Engineering

Assessment methods and criteria
Combined examination

1) Active participation on laboratory lessons. 2) Work out and defend content of laboratory protocols. 3) Prove overall knowledge in electrical engineering.
