!! Pozor, v ZS 2020/2021 předmět se nevyučuje kvůli opatření v souvislosti s COVID19 !! Week 1: Introduction to the course, students' expectations and experience. Icebreakers: getting to know each other. Terminology. Week 2: Body Awareness and Expression: what can you do with your body and what can your body do with you (body language, miming, gestures). Week 3: Voice Expression: speak, shout, whisper, mumble, articulate! (exploring of one's own voice, articulation exercises). Week 4: Getting to know your group: performing means also cooperating (pair and group work, collective activities, improvisation, Theatre of the Oppressed games). Week 5: Harvesting: tell me the story (finding a story to work with). Week 6: Text and acting: analyze your character (personality differences, monologues, dialogues). Week 7-9: Theatre play and performance: what does it require? (play analysis, working out the script, planning). Week 10-14: Preparation of the performance: we want to play in public so we need to work hard! (rehearsals, preparation of material, prompts, music)

Výstupy z učení

The aim of the course is to improve students' communication skills in English through a range of drama activities. Students will be exposed to a variety of different dramatic principles and techniques. They will explore drama from various points of view: as a form of literary text, a way of communicating ideas, a teaching strategy and finally as performance art. We will work with topics such as concentration, energy, group dynamics and cohesion, improvisation, active listening, verbal expression and trust, all very much needed in language acquisition. During the semester, students are involved in a range of drama activities that help to improve their knowledge of productive skills and discourse in English and precise the expression of their body language used in teaching of a language. These activities should lead to a possible drama performance at the end of the semester.

To obtain the credit students are required to: - participate in classes (no more than 3 absences) - complete all home assignments - help with the script and staging and participate in the public performance
