Course content
|
The course in AY 2023/24 will be taught in two separate groups and the content of each group will depend on the objectives of the two course convenors for the given period. The two seminar groups will be taught by Dr. Marková and Doc. Fárek. Dr. Marková: Ireland and texts challenging its status quo. Doc. Fárek: South Asian Cultures The list of topics is subject to changes based on the needs or requirements of the faculty and/or students. The extent of the face-to-face instruction for students in the part-time program: 9 lessons/semester

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to familiarize students with selected topics historical and/or cultural issues of English-speaking countries. Attention is paid primarily to topics that could not be covered to a sufficient extent in Culture II: British Studies and Culture III: American Studies.
Better familiarity with anglophone cultures and literatures.

B2 level of English, successful completion of Culture I: Introduction to Culture and Literature.

Assessment methods and criteria
|

Students will actively participate in seminars; students will have read assigned texts prior to the particular class(es); students will submit complete assignments by the required dates. - The subject has its e-learning course with course materials (compulsory readings, supplementary documents and links) - Attendance is compulsory in the seminars (full-time study: two unexcused absences are allowed; combined study: one unexcused absence is allowed). Absences, if possible, should be announced in advance. - Communication about technical and organizational issues is done in the course forum on the e-learning server. - The course credit is awarded on the condition of regular attendance, active participation in the seminars, in time submission of complete assignments which comply with the instructions, and after students will have achieved at least 70 % in the end-of-course test. Unless specified otherwise, combined study students follow the same course requirements and submit to the same form of assessment.
