Learning outcomes
The course seeks to provide students with knowledge of theories and concepts of care in healthcare and educational contexts, including illness, disease, disability, and mental health. Furthermore, it fosters an understanding the conceptual and institutional differences between medical and educational approaches to health, vulnerability, and well-being. Upon completion of the course, the students should be able to identify and explain ethical, social, and cultural dimensions of care as they emerge in schools, healthcare institutions, and related settings. They should also be able to apply interdisciplinary perspectives to critically analyze the healthcare?education nexus, particularly from the standpoint of care. In terms of skills, the course should teach the students to: -- analyze health- and care-related case studies in educational contexts using appropriate conceptual frameworks -- interpret physical and mental health challenges affecting learners with ethical sensitivity and contextual awareness -- communicate informed, respectful, and non-stigmatizing interpretations of illness, disability, and care -- reflect critically on professional roles, responsibilities, and limits of care in educational and institutional settings
