Course content
1. Introduction, general rules, ecosystem management, management plans. 2. Management of mesophilic grassland ecosystems - grazing, fertilization. 3. Management of mesophilic grassland ecosystems - mulching, mowing. 4. Management of narrow-leaved and broad-leaved dry grasslands. 5. Management of wetlands. 6. Management of forest ecosystems. 7. Revitalisation of ponds, restoration and creation of new ponds, pools. 8. Fish passes, stream revitalisation. 9. Protection and management - sandstone rock towns. 10. Protection and management of bogs and fens. 11. Protection and management of heathland. 12. Protection and management of saltmarshes and sandbanks; disturbed habitats (sandpits, dumps, temporary water bodies). 13. Examples of special management for fauna and flora SPAs, possible conflicts of objectives of measures for different conservation objects and their prioritisation. 14. Control of invasive species. Measures to make the landscape more accessible and reduce the barrier effect of linear constructions.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to introduce students to the basics of practical management measures applied in nature conservation, including ecological risks and examples of good practice. The course will be taught in the 6th semester after the completion of the Plant and Animal Ecology course. Knowledge of species ecology will facilitate students' orientation in the effective application of available management measures.
