1. Introduction, legal framework for waste management. 2. Classification of waste according to chemical composition, waste analysis. 3. Waste sorting, collection and transport. 4. Wastewater and its treatment. 5. Sludge and its treatment. 6. Municipal solid waste and its treatment. 7. Waste recycling, biomass and its treatment. 8. Toxic and microbiologically hazardous waste. 9. Radioactive waste. 10. Landfilling and incineration of waste. 11. Biogas management. 12. Inert wastes in the Anthropocene. 13. Industrial accidents and their remediation - historical overview. 14. Heat as waste - the global context.

Learning outcomes
|
The course provides a basic overview of waste issues. It covers the types of waste, their producers and the possibilities of waste management according to the legal framework of the Czech Republic and the EU. Detailed attention is paid to methods of waste prevention, disposal, reuse and recycling.
