Course content
1. Basic information about studying at TUL. Presentation of the chosen field. 2. Concept of nature protection in the Czech Republic - protected areas in general. 3. Concept of nature protection in the Czech Republic - species protection and biotope protection. 4. The role of institutions, state administration and self-government as well as the private sector in environmental protection. 5. Regional nature protection - presentation of protected areas in the PLA region: Jizerské hory 6. Regional nature protection - presentation of protected areas in the Lusatian Mountains PLA region 7. Regional nature protection - presentation of protected areas in the Bohemian Paradise PLA region 8. Regional nature protection - presentation of protected areas in the Ještěd Nature Park and Karlovská bučiny NPP region 9. Regional nature protection - presentation of protected areas in the KRNAP region 10. Regional nature protection - introduction of protected areas in the region small protected areas 11. The issue of "Nature restoration". 12. Waste issues in the region. 13. Possibilities of applying OPŽP graduates in the region. 14. Cross-border aspects of nature protection and ŽP.

Learning outcomes
In this subject, students will be introduced to university studies, they will be introduced to the structure of the field and the profile of the graduate. They will also be introduced to regional issues related to the protection of nature and the environment. Students will be introduced to various approaches to environmental protection, their development and the context of their use in contemporary society in all its complexity and interconnectedness. An integral part of the subject will also be the presentation of various options for getting involved in practice after completing the studies, connected, for example, with the presentation of employees working in AOPK Liberecko, local governments, waste management, KÚ, the private sector, who will introduce them to the issues of their fields and the possibilities of applying graduates.
