Course content
Students perform 10 laboratory exercises and become familiar with principles of selected physicochemical phenomena and methods. Correct interpretation of results and experimental data evaluation with use of computers is emphasized. Experiment list: viscosity, calorimetry, conductivity, vapor pressure, surface tension, distribution coefficient, solubility; phase equilibria, kinetics, sorption.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monological explanation (lecture, presentation,briefing), Self-study (text study, reading, problematic tasks, practical tasks, experiments, research, written assignments), Laboratory work, Problematic methods (research and exploration)
  • Class attendance - 56 hours per semester
  • Preparation for laboratory testing; outcome analysis - 60 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
Master: principles of selected physicochemical phenomena and methods. Correct interpretation of results and experimental data evaluation with use of computers is emphasized. Experiment list: viscosity, calorimetry, conductivity, vapor pressure, surface tension, liquid-vapor equilibria, solubility; phase equilibria, kinetics, sorption.
To explain and deduce basic knowledge on field, including simpler problem solving. To work practically and safely in chemistry lab. To estimate the uncertainty of the experimental results.
Prerequisites
knowledge of high school chemistry, mathematics and physics

Assessment methods and criteria
Combined examination

elaborated and defended protocols for every exercise Each laboratory is initiated by a short written test. Test will verify the knowledge of principles of current laboratory task. In the event of not sufficient knowledge necessary to perform laboratory exercises, student may be excluded from the laboratory.
