Course content
1. Introduction to genetics, history, genetics 2. DNA, RNA, principle of complementarity of bases, central dogma 3. Replication, transcription, translation, differences between prokaryotic and eukaryotic systems, vertical and horizontal transmission of hereditary information, extra-nuclear inheritance, prions. 4. Mendel's laws, basic concepts, genetic aspects of sexuality, chromosomal determination of gender, sex-bound inheritance. 5. Gene Interaction, Gene Binding, Bateson and Morgan Number, Crossing Over 6. Inheritance of quantitative features - continuous phenotypic variability, polygenic inheritance, genetic and non-genetic component of phenotypic variability. 7. Fundamentals of genetics of populations - populations of alogamic and autogamous, Hardy-Weinberg's law, genetic drift. 8. Mutations and mutagenesis - genomic, chromosomal and genomic mutations, molecular mutation, mutagenesis, repair of damaged DNA. 9. Expression of genes and their regulation at the level of transcription, post-transcriptional, translational and posttranslational, genetic code 10. Human genetics 11. Cytogenetics 12. Methods of molecular genetics - DNA isolation, PCR, qPCR, genomics, proteomics, transcriptomics 13. Methods of molecular genetics - sequencing (Sanger, second and third generation, nanoporous sequencing), molecular cloning, basic model organisms in molecular biology 14. Pharmacogenomics, criminology, breeding

Learning outcomes
The aim of the subject is to acquaint students with basic areas of genetics, principles of molecular genetic phenomena and basic molecular genetic methods.
Theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the field.

basic knowledge of biology and chemistry

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral exam, Written assignment, Test

2x written test during the semester, the result will be included in the overall result of the exam, credit will be awarded for active participation in seminars and elaboration of laboratory protocols from individual tasks
