Course content
Basic concepts and terminology, parasite interaction - host, parasite influence on host, selected parasitic diseases and their treatment 1) Characteristics of parasites, forms of parasitism, spread of parasitism, system and taxonomy of parasites 2) Protozoa (development cycles, transmission, symptoms, treatment) 3) Sputum (developmental cycles, transmission, symptoms, treatment) 4) Motolice, tapeworms (development cycles, transmission and risks to humans, symptoms, treatment) 5) Ticks, lice, fleas, bloodthirsty plaques, mosquitoes - way of transmission, symptoms, treatment, vaccination, antiparasitics 6) Plant parasitism 7) Evolution and ecology of parasites Laboratory exercises are linked to topics of lectures.
