Course content
The course explains the concept of pragmalinguistics. Theoretical concepts make it possible for students to analyse authentic texts from the pragmalinguistic point of view.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monological explanation (lecture, presentation,briefing), Dialogue metods(conversation,discussion,brainstorming), Self-study (text study, reading, problematic tasks, practical tasks, experiments, research, written assignments)
  • Class attendance - 28 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
The course explains the concept of pragmalinguistics. Key topics: Pragmatics vs. semantics, pragmatics vs. grammar; reference and deixis; presupposition and other implicative components of the utterance meaning; speech acts; theory of conversation; politeness; irony; communicative strategies.Theoretical concepts make it possible for students to analyse authentic texts from the pragmalinguistic point of view.
