Course content
The lectures aim at the essential theoretical concepts and notions of thinking about literature and its analyses. Key topics: Fields and branches of the theory of literature. A work of literature as an act of communication. The aesthetic function in the literature. Representation, narrative and fictionality. The diversity of theoretical and methodological approaches.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monological explanation (lecture, presentation,briefing), Dialogue metods(conversation,discussion,brainstorming), Self-study (text study, reading, problematic tasks, practical tasks, experiments, research, written assignments)

Assessment methods and criteria
Student's performance analysis

Requirements necessary to complete the seminar, form of testing the acquired knowledge: - continuous preparation for seminars: in particular, reading of pre-assigned samples of primary texts to be analysed in team; - active participation in the seminar = participation in solving team assignments; independently formulated questions and contributions to the seminar discussion; - completion of three short assignments in the form of analysis or transformation of a literary passage, own creation or excerpt of a secondary text (continuous testing of reading comprehension, analytical competence) - an examination in the form of a written test.
