Course content
The lectures introduce students into Czech and Slavonic linguistics and presents them with the key concepts and terms concerning linguistic theory. The main topics dealt with are Czech as a national language, the so-called literary standard vs. non- standard language, critera of codification, position of Czech among other Slavonic languages. The seminar practises various methods of linguistic analysis.

Monological explanation (lecture, presentation,briefing), Dialogue metods(conversation,discussion,brainstorming), Self-study (text study, reading, problematic tasks, practical tasks, experiments, research, written assignments), Observation

Prerequisites
Secondary school knowledge of Czech language, its use and system

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral exam, Written exam, Student's performance analysis, Interview, Case history method

Requirements will be specified at the beginning of the semester.
