Lectures: 1. Subject of economics, economic laws 2. Market and market mechanism 3. Money, currencies, inflation 4. Unemployment, the natural rate of unemployment and the Phillips curve 5. GDP - its creation, measurement and use, consumption and investment 6. Economic growth and business cycle 7. Monetary and fiscal policy 8. Theory of utility and consumer behavior 9. Elasticity of supply and demand, market equilibrium 10. Theory of production and marginal product, isoquant analysis 11. Cost analysis 12. Perfect competition 13. Imperfect competition 14. Labor market and trade unions

Learning outcomes
The subject Basics of economics is an introduction to economic theory, or macroeconomics and microeconomics. The content of the first part of the course is an explanation of the basic conceptual apparatus, principles and interactions between individual processes and phenomena in macroeconomic reality. Emphasis is placed on the ability to analyze economic problems and orientation in possible economic and political measures of state institutions. The second part deals with the analysis of microeconomic problems, enabling the creation of a comprehensive picture leading to the rational behavior of an economic entity in the market environment and the ability to draw conclusions resulting from selected microeconomically oriented theories.

Prerequisites
General knowledge within the scope of secondary school studies is assumed.

Written exam

The course is concluded with a final written exam.
