Learning outcomes
In its first part (seven first lectures), the course introduces students to ethics as a practical philosophical discipline, and its interdisciplinary overlap. Therefore, the main ethical concepts and their arguments will be presented here. This first part of the course will be seamlessly followed by the field of applied ethics (practical ethics) in the broader context of the social sciences. The lectures of this practical part of the course will be complemented by seminars with examples of current practice in matters of applied ethics.
