Course content
|
The exercises in Theory of subjectivity is based on the interpretation of classical texts to understand the central questions concerning the nature of the human mind and personality. These are fundamental problems: 1) Ontology of selfhood (the difference between mind and body) 2) Ontological-epistemic postulate of the priviledged position of the first person 3) Special features of mental states and processes; intentionality problem, qualia, consciousness and self-consciousness 4) Identity of the person in time 5) Differences in human intelligence in comparison to artificial intelligence 6) The necessary linkage between mind, body and external world

Learning outcomes
|
The course is dedicated to the classical and recent theories of subjectivity, including the ontological theses of Soul-body difference [Descartes], the Leibniz's concept of individual substance, the criterion of identity in time [Locke], the critics of the concept of the Self [Hume], the concept transcendental aperception and of the paralogisms of pure reason [Kant], the dialectics of master and servant [Hege], the use of the word "I" [Wittgenstein] and others.
The students will acknowledge themselves with the informations acording to the goal and the matter of the course.
