Course content
The course will introduce students to the development of views on the literary work since the beginning of Literature until Dante period. 1. Scope and sense of historical poetics 2. Homer and the paradigm of European literariness 3. Archaic understanding of poetry and imitation 4. Beginnings of lyric poetry and ancient Greek drama 5. Plato and his concept of imitation 6. Aristotle's Poetics and the concept of imitation 7. Aristotle's theory of prose 8. Hellenism. Poetics of the sublime. The emergence of the novel 9. Medieval poetics and theory of ornatus 11. Dante and the outcome of the Middle Ages. Theory of literary works in mother language 12. Medieval theater 13. Reserve

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monological explanation (lecture, presentation,briefing)
  • Preparation for credit - 30 hours per semester
  • Class attendance - 28 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
The course acquaints students with the development of views on literary works from the time of the origin of literature to the time of Dante. The development is based on the sacred conception of poetry and leads to its secular description by philosophical discourse in the classical period, in Hellenism and in Christian literature.
The students will acknowledge themselves with the informations acording to the goal and the matter of the course.

Preconditions are frased in the annotation of the course and in the curriculum of the studying programme.
