Course content
1. Acoustic systems, basic terms, classification of acoustic signals, Fourier transform, frequency response of a system, measurement of the frequency response, frequency and dynamic ranges of the system 2. Sound fields, free sound field, field of reflected waves, diffusive sound field 3. Basic acoustic measurements, measuring spaces, measuring microphone, filters, sound meter, frequency (spectral) analyzer 4. Acoustic elements, basic terms, Helmholtz resonator, waveguides, Kundt's tube 5. Architectural acoustics, wave theory, statistical theory, architectural acoustics criteria, geometrical acoustics 6. Building acoustics, sound absorption, sound isolation 7. Physiological acoustics, basic terms, a human ear, distortion in an ear, pitch and frequency, loudness, tones and noise, masking, acoustics of speech 8. Musical acoustics, musical scales, physical bases of musical instruments 9. Psychoacoustics, basic laws of psychoacoustics, determination of speech intelligibility 10. Noise and environment, noise criteria, road traffic noise 11. Ultrasound, sources of ultrasound, application of ultrasound

Written exam

Examination is in written form, a knowledge of problems solved at seminars and of lectured topics is required.
