Course content
The aim of the course is to acquire knowledge about basic evolutionary processes, phylogenesis of biotype development from Paleozoic to present. Exercises are focused on the actual presentation of the evolution of a particular taxon, or a specific character, and the defense of one's own opinion. 1) The origin of the universe, the formation of the solar system, the origin of the Earth, the demise of the Earth 2) The origin of life - different theories 3) Abiogenesis, building bricks of life, the first development of life 4) Evolutionary principles 5) Natural selection, genetic polymorphism 6) Mutation, genetic shift, gene flow, and evolutionary strokes 7) Evolution of sexual reproduction and sexual selection 8) Concept of species, speciace 9) Macroevolution; microevolution 10) History of the evolution of life until the end of Paleozoic 11) History of the evolution of life from the Mesozoic to the beginning of the quaternary 12) Plant and animal phylogenesis 13) Human origin and development 14) Criticism and defense of evolutionary theories

The aim of the course is to acquire knowledge about basic evolutionary processes, phylogenesis of biotype development from Paleozoic to present.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral exam

Continuous evaluation of preparation and activity on exercises, assessment of written summary of basic information and case studies presented in work on exercises (credit). Oral exam focused on the presentation and defense of selected problems of evolutionary theory.
