Course content
1. Introduction to the study of socio-economic geography 2. Geography of the population 3. Demographic structures, dynamics, demographic transitions 4. Religious and linguistic structure of the world, demographic forecasts 5. Development of cities 6. The largest cities in the world 7. Geography of cities of the Czech Republic 8. The Geography of Wealth and Poverty 9. Extraction of minerals and agriculture 10. Geography of industry 11. Geography of transport, services and tourism 12. Selected problems of socio-economic geography

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monological explanation (lecture, presentation,briefing), Dialogue metods(conversation,discussion,brainstorming), Self-study (text study, reading, problematic tasks, practical tasks, experiments, research, written assignments)
  • Presentation preparation (report) - 8 hours per semester
  • Semestral paper - 14 hours per semester
  • Class attendance - 42 hours per semester
  • Home preparation for classes - 28 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
The subject is human geography, which, together with the physical and regional geography is one of the fundamental pillars of professional geographic education. In the second of three courses, the emphasis is on economic geography
Understanding the complexity and spatial differentiation of contemporary economic processes at medium and high hierarchical levels and their interaction with social processes. Ability to work independently, based on the knowledge gained in lectures, tutorials and self-study of literature. Ability to write, present and defend seminar work.
