1. Introduction to urban and rural geography, key concepts, main ideas. 2. Transaction links between urban and rural regions , semiperipheries and peripheries, suburbanization / subruralization. The definition of urban and rural areas. 3. Positivist, behavioral, structural and post-structural view of cities. 4. The spatial structure of cities, developmental and functional types of cities. 5. Socio-spatial structure of cities, relationship between social processes and spatial structures. 6. Environment of cities and their sustainability, environmental perception and imagination. 7. Development strategies and urban development, integrated development, housing, leisure, public participation. 8. Rural landscape: nature, population and economy. 9. Social issues in rural, rural way of life, a differentiated approach to development. 10. The future of rural in its diversity, sustainability and rural identity. 11. Urban-rural relations, communication, overcoming barriers, second housing. 12. Spatial integration of urban and rural areas for ensuring regional sustainability.

Combined examination
Analysis, evaluation and creation of urban and rural studies of the Czech Republic. During the semester, 3 exercises = 60 points, written exam = 40 points.
