Basics of landscape ecology resp. landscape science as a basic interdisciplinary subject that studies the landscape sphere. Definition of landscape and its structure, compositional components of landscape. Landscape units at different hierarchical levels. Natural and anthropogenic processes of landscape development. Ecological stability of the landscape, biodiversity in the landscape. Landscape typology, natural and cultural landscape. Types of landscape in the Czech Republic and in Europe, current trends in the development of the cultural landscape. Landscape use, land use and land cover and their importance for the functioning of the landscape. Application of landscape ecological knowledge in landscape planning: ecological networks in the landscape, protection of landscape character, landscape creation programs.
