Course content
1. Introduction into the topic 2. Humanistic geographical conceptions focus on the concept of place 3. Place as a mean of knowledge/understanding (Heidegger, Malpas) 4. Place as potential concept in geographical education 5. Home as a specific concept of place 6. Individual and place, spatiality

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monological explanation (lecture, presentation,briefing), Self-study (text study, reading, problematic tasks, practical tasks, experiments, research, written assignments)
  • Class attendance - 28 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
Humanistic approach how to study place. Main conpcet is Heidegger's phenomenological philosophy, Patocka and Malpas. Place in books: Relph, Tuan, Cresswell and others
Students are able to analyse a place by humanistic methods (questionnaire, ethnographic method)
Prerequisites
Passing two courses: Introduction to human geography (ZHG) and Humanistic and cultural geography (HKG).

Assessment methods and criteria
Student's performance analysis, Written assignment

Study of books in English, Filosphy of place and geographical knowledge of place.
