Course content
Syllabus 1. Study of politics in human geography 2. States, peoples, national states, development of modern state, geographical characteristics of the state 3. Colonialism and post-colonialism 4. European integration 5. Secular state and religious conflicts 6. Superpowers policy after the end of Cold war 7. EU and Asian states

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monological explanation (lecture, presentation,briefing), Dialogue metods(conversation,discussion,brainstorming), Self-study (text study, reading, problematic tasks, practical tasks, experiments, research, written assignments)
Learning outcomes
Students will understand the definition of political geography. Geographers are carriers of the political studies, they use techniques and spatial concepts (Burnett and Taylor, 1981, in: Johnston: Human Geography Dictionary). The subject is intent on development of knowledge in studied issues and theories (Hearland theory, change of frontiers, change of capitals, regional conflicts, ethnic cleansing etc.). Students have to understand profoundly actual political issues and their spatial fearues (Middle East, Afghanistan, Macedonia). Special attention deals with political spatial impacts in terms of the EU and relations of the EU with USA, Japan, Russia and China.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral exam

Students prepare and interpret political-geographical theme which they present and discuss. They use English and German literature and understand and use geographical concepts and issues, and explain the issues with using geographical theories.
