Course content
1. Development of regional studies 2. Object of study of regional studies, its position within the geography 3. The principles and methods of regionalization, regional classification 4. Natural regions 5. Core and periphery, development of forms of regional organization 6. Economic, metropolitan, cultural regions 7. Global risks and challenges 8. Characteristics of regions

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monological explanation (lecture, presentation,briefing), Dialogue metods(conversation,discussion,brainstorming), Self-study (text study, reading, problematic tasks, practical tasks, experiments, research, written assignments), Written assignment presentation and defence
  • Class attendance - 42 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
Subject is conserning physical, human and local geographies focusing on regional differentiation and individuality (world´s regions). Rather than description it is preferred regional relations, processes, patterns and their existence and operation in the world´s regions. Students investigated in seminars with information about regional issues and evaluations and present their results.

Prerequisites
Knowledge in the range of lectures and for literature. Understanding the study of regions in the czech Republic and other countries; the use of statistical data, maps, satellite images - such as GoogleEarth, GIS. The importance of regional geography in public administration.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written exam, Oral presentation of self-study

Credit: Active participation in practice, elaboration of semestral work, successful graduation in test. Details on the first practice. Exam: compound
