Course content
Lectures: 1) Introduction to the issue. 2) Basic terminology of the field, archival periodicals, history of the field. 3) Development of archives in the European context. 4) Archival legislation. 5) Current structure of archives in the Czech Republic, archival education. 6) Excursion to the State District Archive in Liberec. 7) Shredding. 8) File service. 9) Excursion to the National Archive. 10) Types of archive funds and collections. 11) Classification, organization and registration of archives. 12) Protection and storage of archives. 13) Use of archives. 14) Excursion to the State District Archive in Jablonec nad Nisou. Exercises: Exercises will be used primarily to acquire and deepen some skills with working with sources (primarily practical paleographic skills) and independent performance of students on the topics in the field of archiving.

Monological explanation (lecture, presentation,briefing), Dialogue metods(conversation,discussion,brainstorming), Self-study (text study, reading, problematic tasks, practical tasks, experiments, research, written assignments)

Learning outcomes
Subject evolves knowledge and abilities obtained in Auxilarry science (PVHM) It also familiarizes with the organisation and the structure of archives in the Czech Republic and its history, basic terminology, industry periodicals and literature. Students will be acquainted with the history and structure of the current government administration and local government.
Students will learn the basics of archival.

Test

Active participation in seminars, presentation of a paper, successful completion of the test.
