Learning outcomes
Lectures on the history of culture will focus on the Czech lands in the early to late Middle Ages (7th century - 1526), taking into account the context of European development, including the cultural changes of the landscape, its settlement and use. The medieval organization of society (the teaching of the "three people"), the form of elite representation of the royal dynasties, the nobility and the church will be reflected through the material monuments of the world and the church. The interpretation is devoted to the non-elite, majority part of neurotic society and its material and spiritual life. The following is a basic overview of the early modern history of culture in the Czech lands between the years 1526-1792 with references to European development, different social environments, their patterns of behavior, social distinction and representation presented on the example of selected monuments of secular and ecclesiastical material culture.
In the exercises, students mainly work with professional terminology used in presentations from selected areas of the history of medieval and modern culture. The acquired knowledge is practiced on practical examples also during a joint visit to a selected regional monument.
