Architecture of the time of the last Přemyslids and Luxemburgs 4. Charles IV. and the art of his time, illuminated manuscripts, books and murals 5. Painting and sculpture of the 15th century 6. Renaissance architecture, painting and sculpture in Bohemia and Moravia 7. Mannerism, Rudolfinian Prague, early modern collecting 8. Baroque in Italy x baroque in Bohemia 9. Baroque piety and its forms in the art of the Czech lands 10. Baroque architecture in Bohemia 11. Baroque painting in Bohemia 12. The phenomenon of Baroque architecture in the Czech lands 13. Baroque in the region 14. The end of the Baroque and its appearance at the end of the 18th century Exercises: The lectures are followed by exercises in which the students will practically use the acquired knowledge from both the history of culture and the history of art, using concrete examples from the region. As part of the exercise, it is assumed that all students will be actively involved, work with assigned professional texts, and work on assigned tasks.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the basic chronological line of the development of art history in the Czech lands from the Middle Ages to the end of the Baroque, outline the possibilities of methodological approaches, introduce the issue of artist-client relations and the changing role of the artist in the defined period.
Students will be familiarized with the development of art and architecture in the Czech lands since the early Middle Ages to the end of baroque period.

Fulfilment of previous study obligations, basic knowledge of history, culture and terminology.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Interview
The basic requirement is regular participation in lectures and exercises, 2 excused absences will be tolerated. A prerequisite for successful completion of the subject is active participation in teaching, working with assigned texts and topics. During the semester, there will be student presentations of selected topics, which will be assigned in the first two weeks of classes. Two professional excursions are planned within the semester, one to Žitava and the other to the permanent exhibitions of the National Gallery in Prague. Participation in these organized events is a prerequisite for successful completion of the course. With regard to the intersection of free time and other study obligations of students, it is possible that these events will be directed to a different teaching day. The subject will by a written assessment.
