Course content
|
Lectures: 1) Time and content definition, basic chronology. 2) Classicism. 3) Historicism as a reception of styles, the influence of the Viennese urban concept on the development of Grunder architecture in the Czech lands. 4) Art Nouveau and its forms in architecture. 5) Functionalism and its German-speaking architects. 6) Forms of housing in the 20th century - tenement house, collective housing. 7) Sial and its buildings, especially in Liberec and its surroundings. Exercises: Exercises will focus on practicing chronology and terminology; if possible, they will take place in the inner city of Liberec 1) Basic chronological line. 2) Classicism on the example of the city part V - Kristiánov. 3) Liberec Garden City. 4) Jablonec nad Nisou as a city of Art Nouveau architecture. 5) Realization of Heinrich Lauterbach in Jablonec nad Nisou. 6) Housing estate and its forms in the 20th century. 7) Mountain hotel Jested.

Learning outcomes
|
Students will learn the basic aspects of the development of architecture in the 19th and 20th century. Lectures and additional exercises (in the field in front of the originals) are conceived chronologically from classicism through individual forms of historicism, Art Nouveau, functionalism to forms of housing in the 20th century. Emphasis will be placed on regional specifics, German-speaking architects (Lossow and Kühne, Rudolf Bitzan, Heinrich Lauterbach, Max Kühn and others) or the activities of the Sial group.
It corresponds to the definition of the subject and to the demands given in syllabus.

Basic interest in art history, knowledge of terminology.
