Learning outcomes
The lectures, divided chronologically into thematic sections, introduce students to the current comparative concept of interpreting the history of the lands of the Czech Crown and in Europe in the early modern period. The interpretation aims at general reflections on the integration of the Lands of the Czech Crown as part of the Habsburg Monarchy between the 16th and 18th centuries into the political, social, economic, religious and cultural context. The lecturer draws attention to historiographical problems and questionable interpretations of the "national" past influenced or limited by political motives of the 19th to 21st centuries.
Exercises: Lectures are followed by exercises in which students discuss selected topics individually or in groups. They notice different interpretations of sources, use professional literature and electronic resources. The presentations themselves develop student skills based on secure knowledge of the basics of the historian's work as well as the ability to deal critically with electronic media.
