Course content
Abstract: Basic series of lectures on medieval world and Czech history is a time defined by the arrival of the Slavs to the Czech lands around one third of the sixth century until the 1526th In addition to the initial introduction to the basic literature and a brief outline of the historical development of Czech and world history, examining the problems of the Middle Ages (the most significant figures) are designed lectures into 14 chronological blocks, where the emphasis is also on the Central Europe and its importance for Czech history. Exercise deepen thematic perspective, the emphasis is on familiarization with sources (including editions). Thematic definition: 01) The beginnings of Slavic settlement in the Czech lands and the development of Great Moravia 02) Great Moravia - the first government department in our area and its significance 03) The beginnings of Czech Přemyslid 04) The expansion of the Czech state during the reign of Přemysl Boleslav Boleslaw I and II. and after the crisis at the turn of the millennium 05) Czech Přemysl State at 11 century 06) Czech Přemysl State at 12 century 07) Czech state for Přemysl Otakar I. and Wenzel I, the process of transformation of the High Middle Ages 08) Czech state for Přemysl Otakar II., Wenceslas II. and Václav III., completing the transformation of high medieval 09) dynastic crisis following the assassination of Wenceslas III. Czech state and the reign of John 10) Country Czech Crown under the reign of Charles IV. 11) The last government of Luxembourg in Czech lands and the Hussite Revolution 12) Czech lands during the reign of Albrecht von Habsburg, Ladislaus the Posthumous, and George of Podebrady 13) Czech lands during the reign Jagellons 14) Summary of course

Learning outcomes
The course helps to understand the basic trends, disability and relations in political, economic and cultural, in the time between the first government departments to extinction Jagellons on the Czech throne and main events in Europe during Middle Ages
Students get an overview of medieval society, shaping and significance of its layers of political, economic, religious, and kulturncích spheres.
Prerequisites
Fulfilment of previous study obligations, basic knowledge of Czech history in the political, cultural, religious and economic.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral exam

Active attendance on discussions (lessons); fulfilment of homework; passing a test successfully; study of recommended literature. Exam.
