Course content
|
Abstract: Basic introduction to the issue of regional history, its working methods and practices (emphasis on the oral history, on the work with memorial books of municipal and other types of chronicles). Types of regional historic sites (archives, museums, workplaces of heritage conservation and their job description). Options of own regional historical research. Given the role of the Czech-German research in the region (until 1945) will focus on a review of these activities since the mid-19th century to 1945, respectively the scholarly activities in the former Sudeten German Environment (Collegium Carolinum etc.). Seminars emphasize the mastery of the principles of the historical craft as applied to selected regional historic subject which the students proces separately, using sources and literature in the essay. Thematic definition: 01-02) Concept of the region and its diverse coverage; links to the creation of regional historiography, setting of the work 03-04) The origins and evolution of the Czech historiography from 19th century; transformation of concepts and tasks 05) The concept of regional history of F. Kutnar 06) The story of Ouběnice 07-09) Sources of regional history 10-11) Didactic aspects and the use of regional history 12-13) Evaluation of students' work and discussion about them 14) Final summary

Learning outcomes
|
The course looks at the regional history and its relation to the state and general history. It covers the main of the methodical, interpretative and analytical issues.
It corresponds to the definition of the subject and to the demands given in syllabus.
